With splashes of color and a make-your-own flip-flop bar, popular Brazilian flip-flop company Havaianas has set up its first-ever pop-up shop at 74 Gansevoort Street for the summer, until September 3. The main attraction is a giant wall with shoes of every color and pattern for men, women and kids (starting at $18 for basic adult colors, $14 for kids).
A fun feature is the make-your-own flip-flop station, where shoppers can customize their footwear by pairing a wide spectrum of colored soles and straps. Though other companies — including Havaianas — offer custom shoes online, we haven’t seen ones that are made on the spot. Those with a love for bling can take it even further by adding sequins and jewels. For the lovers of luxury, the shop even sells a pair with Swarovski crystals on the straps for $200.

The 1,200 square-foot space has an airy, tropical feel, with murals, flowers and an area to rest your feet. The pop-up is also a convenient pit stop if your fancier shoes are having trouble navigating the wooden rails on the nearby High Line or the cobblestoned streets of the surrounding Meatpacking District. With the space’s slate gray exterior, it’s hard to tell that there’s a blast of color inside.
