This Sunday was the coldest day of the season so far, and most people were bundled up in layers of scarves and complaining to their friends about how cold it was. The sky was bright and cloudless, and the way the sun glinted off a cluster of gold caught my eye as I was waiting to cross the street in Hell’s Kitchen. I don’t know what I was expecting to see after taking a closer look, but it definitely wasn’t this delightfully witchy-looking cape. It won’t be Halloween again for another 347 days, but dramatic goth-inspired style will never truly hibernate. Layers of black wool and scarves are warm, for one thing.

Here’s a closer look at the metallic ink used for the detailing on the collar, as well as this fancy toned paper.

And finally, a subtler detail I appreciated about this outfit was the texture contrast between the rich wool and the smooth, gently-shining leather of her gloves and bag.
