Amazingly enough, there are THREE locations for the Torah Animal World museum, which is “a taxidermy museum claiming to display every animal mentioned in the Hebrew Bible.” Sadly, the Brooklyn one is closing but there are two other places to take it in–Lakewood, NJ and Fallsburg, NY. A couple months ago we took a visit to the Brooklyn location, but our attempts for a follow-up visit were thwarted by their appointment-only policy.
To be specific, they messed up the scheduling twice. Thus, it came as no surprise that the museum is closing amidst tough economic times. According to the New York Post, the town home the museum is housed in is now on the market for $995,000 and the collection of stuffed animals, worth $1.5 million is being moved to the Fallsburg location.
Here are some photos from our visit and from Torah Animal World website. A visit is $10, and the museum is still open…for now. And in case you were wondering, all the animals in the exhibit died naturally in zoos or gaming reserves.
