8. One Court Square (previously Citigroup Tower), Long Island City
This is perhaps the most functional sundial. Rather than simply telling time (or just being decorative), the 201-meter office building stands over the rest of Long Island City. Its height is so prominent that the building casts a central shadow over the neighborhood and depending on the shadow’s location, the shadow identifies the time throughout the day and year.
