In a response to the recent police shootings in the U.S., Willing Participant (with members fro Elastic City) will be leading a “disarm,” a performance that peacefully engages New York City police officers in a dialogue. The performance begins at 7pm at the SE corner of 49th Street & 6th Avenue in Manhattan. More information is available here.
The Van Alen Institute will be kicking off “Elsewhere,” a week-long program of performances, screenings, discussions and interactive tours that discuss the idea of “escape” in an urban environment. The first event will be held at the Anthology Film Archive on 32 Second Avenue, which is hosting “Get Lost!,” a presentation of “a collection of cinematic love letters to New York” from three filmmakers: Jonas Mekas, Robert Frank, and Manfred Kirchheimer, all European immigrants. The Etsy Holiday Handmade Cavalcade is a biannual Craft Fair In NYC, organized by DIY company Etsy New York, and features the unique handmade gifts of local Etsy Shops. December 13th and 14th from 10am to 8pm. 75 Ninth Avenue between 15th and 16th Street.
