It’s finally that time of year — the heat is kicking up and so are our feet as we sit back to view all those summer outdoor-movie screenings New York City has to offer. From free to a small fee, there’s every kind of film in the queue this year be it those serious classics like Mean Girls or Selena found in SummerScreen’s lineup to the avant-garde independent cinema of the Rooftop Films series. In addition to the HBO Bryant Park Film Festival, which kicks off with the 1993 King Kong on June 19 and “Movies with A View” at Brooklyn Bridge Park beginning in July, keep an eye out for the lineup for the 2017 Central Park Film Festival (traditionally in August). For now, take a look at the films that have been announced and prepare to break out the picnic blankets.
