The Church of St. John the Divine has some interesting events, including the current “Dog Bless You” photography exhibit. The church also has an annual Blessing of the Animals on the feast of St. Francis of Assisi, which takes place this year on October 6th. According to the official website, “This year, visitors can expect to see animals large and small, from alpacas and tortoises to fennec foxes, process up the nave. As always, well-behaved pets are welcome to attend with their human friends.”

There have also been llamas and elephants in the past, according to Secret of New York: An Unusual Guide. And don’t forget about the resident peacocks at St. John’s that have their own Twitter profiles.
