The banks of the Seine in Paris are designated UNESCO World Heritage sites in themselves and this year, the river was front and center at the 2014 Paris Dîner en Blanc, which took place on the bridges Paris and at the Invalides. After last year’s event simultaneously at Trocadero and the Louvre, once again people wondered how the event could outdo itself for a 26th year in a row.
From the Pont Alexander III, Pont L’Alma, Passerelle Debilly, and the Pont D’Iena just in front of the Eiffel Tower, 12,000 revelers took part in this year’s festivities. As always, the location is kept secret until the moment of, invites are only by connection but social media has enabled savvy crashers. The unspoken rule is that as long as they follow the rules and come in style, they’re pretty welcome. Our invite this year hinted at the fact that it would be at a UNESCO site, which is either Notre Dame (which was a location two years ago) or the Seine.
You can see photographs from our participation in the Paris Dîner en Blanc from 2010 on as well as a documentary on the event featuring Untapped Cities founder Michelle Young which is available on iTunes.
This year’s New York City Dîner en Blanc is slated to take place on September 9th. Michelle was the co-head organizer for last year’s NYC dinner, so stay tuned here for updates on how to get in on the fun!
