How to Make a Subway Map with John Tauranac
Hear from an author and map designer who has been creating maps of the NYC subway, officially and unofficially, for over forty years!
Last Saturday, we had the pleasure of seeing eight of the best street artists in NYC, duke it out in Little Italy. The battle was put on by the L.I.S.A Project, in celebration of their second year bringing street art to Manhattan’s Little Italy. Currently in the midst of a controversy concerning the hashstag #TakingBackTheStreets, the L.I.S.A Project has seen much success in transforming Little Italy into a street art hot-spot, joining the ranks of Welling Court in Queens and The Bushwick Collective in Brooklyn.
Now you have a chance to view the beautiful new murals by NYC graffiti legend Crash One, and the mural made by the Secret Walls combatants. To the left, you can view the side, created by the winning team, Team Lowbrow (Lowbrow_bk, Zimad, Mastro and Steiner); the right side was created by Team Supreme (La’mour Supreme, Nick Gazin, Boy Kong and Jeremyville). What makes these Secret Walls team battle murals so fun is to see how all of the different styles merge together to create one giant mural.
Check out our other photos from the events featuring the progress of the mural and more.
