Three-dimensional piece by John Ahearn at Coney Island Art Walls
Last year was the first installation of the Coney Island Art Walls, a street art festival sponsored by Thor Equities, the major developer along Coney Island‘s main drag. There are 21 new walls this year by street artists you’ll certainly recognize like Daze, Icy & Sot, Tats Cru, Nychos, Stephen (ESPO) Powers, Aiko, Haze, and many more. Then there are also walls brought back from last year by Lady Pink, Buff Monster, Sheryo & The Yok, IRAK, and more. We headed there a few days before July 4th weekend to take in the sights. Here they are!

The Coney Island Art Walls are located in a lot at 3050 Stillwell Avenue, behind Nathan’s and less than a block from the boardwalk. The project is curated by Joseph Sitt and Jeffrey Deitch. Sitt is the President & CEO of Thor Equities, Deitch is a writer and curator. He’s the c0-author of Keith Haring, published by Rizzoli and Jean-Michel Basquiat: 1981, the Studio of the Street. The Rizzoli book Live the Art, is a retrospective of Deitch’s works.
