How to Make a Subway Map with John Tauranac
Hear from an author and map designer who has been creating maps of the NYC subway, officially and unofficially, for over forty years!
Untapped Cities tour guide and writer Justin Rivers caught sight of the old span of the Kosciuszko Bridge, which came down onto barges between yesterday and today, floating down the East River on its way to New Jersey for recycling. Although it was widely rumored that the bridge would be imploded, community response led to a different solution that would not disturb the surrounding areas (though it is still possible the on ramps will be exploded). The main span weights 26 million pounds in steel.
