New York City is no stranger to unique, over-the-top experiences. Instead of passively watching a movie, deep dive into the world of immersive theater, which invites viewers to actively participate in the show and become part of the story. CURIOSITIES, an intimate, multi-sensory performance presented by Green Lite Productions, is the latest entry into this market.
The show — or experience, rather — is set in an illegal 1930’s sideshow world of bootleggers, deviants, performers and misfits who have banded together under their keeper, The Professor. Upon arriving at Professor Mysterium’s Menagerie of Wonder, an “illicit evening of seduction and danger begins.” Patrons must navigate through eerie tunnels before arriving at Menagerie’s subterranean jazz club, where they are welcomed with a cocktail as the show begins.
With many secrets to be uncovered, CURIOSITIES promises that no two experiences are the same: limited to 50 guest per performance, patrons can curate their own experiences by choosing to follow the lead of denizens, by exploring the club and its secret passages, or by watching the surreal stage performances.
CURIOSITIES is the brainchild of Broadway veterans Anthony Logan Cole (Les Miserables) and Bryan Knowlton (A Chorus Line). The star-studded lineup of performers also includes veterans from other immersive productions such as Sleep No More, The Grand Paradise, Then She Fell, Seeing You, and Queen Of The Night.
CURIOSITIES will run from through November 26th at The Menagerie, located at 627 5th Avenue in Park Slope, Brooklyn. Opening night is today, Friday, October 13th. To check on the full schedule and to purchase tickets, click here.
