Sunset Park is seeing even more changes in the form of a Japanese-themed food hall. The food hall, called Japan Village is coming to the Brooklyn neighborhood’s Industry City in the spring of 2018.

The food hall, owned by Tony Yoshida and Takuya Yoshida, owners of the Michelin-starred Kyo Ya and grocery store Sunrise Mart, will resemble the setup of a traditional food hall in Japan. “We are hoping to create a fun environment where visitors can explore the Japanese marketplace.”

Japan Village, a 20,000 square foot space will serve authentic cuisine from the country. Foods like miso soup, bento boxes and Japanese fried chicken are a few of the delicacies that will be available.

Additionally, the food hall will include an izakaya restaurant, a sake store, and a specialty-grocery store that features ingredients from across the Japanese regions. There will even be street food options like Yakisoba (pan-fried noodles) and Taiyaki (fish-shaped sweets with red bean). For those seeking healthier options, there will be a matcha drinks shop, juice and salad bars, and an assortment of fresh Japanese vegetables.

Industry City has various other multicultural food vendors for patrons to choose from in its 16-building area and 6.5 million-square-foot space. Colson Patisserie, a Belgium pastry shop, and the Korean comfort food serving restaurant Ejen are two additional dining options, along with many others. Japan Village will be the third single-cuisine focused food hall in the city, joining the Flatiron’s Eataly and French-focused Le District located in the Financial District.
