It’s long been the mission of Untapped Cities to help even the most seasoned New York rediscover their city. In keeping to this goal, we’re extending beyond our web magazine and bringing the secrets of New York City alive for a free, one-day event, Fair Rows: 10 Secrets of Washington Square Park and the WSP Arch, taking place from 11am to 4pm on Sunday, November 12.

Let us know you’re coming by RSVP-ing below: Washington Square Park Secrets: an Untapped Cities Scavenger Hunt

We’re very excited to be co-hosting this very special occasion alongside artist Aaron Asis and community-minded arts organization, 1m1w1d.
The day will include three interactive activities: at the top of every hour, we’ll be giving short presentations at Garibaldi Plaza, revealing “10 Secrets in 10 Minutes.” In addition, we’re inviting visitors to embark on a live scavenger hunt with five items to look out for throughout the park: those who successfully document all the listed items with photographs will be entered to win a raffle for one of three prizes (join us to see the prizes).

Meet us at Garbaldi Plaza in Washington Square Park

Those interested in taking a diving deeper into the history of Washington Square Park and its famous arch can also join one of two VIP tours (1:30pm and 2:30pm), which will be led by Untapped Cities tour guide, Justin Rivers, who also runs our Remnants of Penn Station and Remnants of Dutch New Amsterdam tour (among many others). The tours will be first-come-first-serve, so make sure to drop by Garibaldi Square early to sign up.

We hope to see you all there on Sunday as we uncover the amazing (and often unknown) history of our bustling city.

Next, see the inside of the Washington Square Arch and discover the hidden history of Washington Square Park.
