New Film Shows How Art Brings Life to Green-Wood Cemetery
Discover how the living and the dead make Green-Wood Cemetery a vibrant part of NYCs cultural scene!
For more than 160 years, Central Park has offered millions of New Yorkers 843 acres of rolling hills, hidden nooks, and sprawling lawns – right in the middle of Manhattan. But beyond Belvedere Castle and Sheep’s Meadow, how well do you really know your Park?
On Sunday, Jul 29th, get to know Central Park and all its secrets on a scavenger hunt with The Museum of the City of New York. Using your phone as the key, unlock the hidden stories of New York City’s iconic natural playground. Alone or with a team, participants will race to match historic images of the Park to their present-day locations using the Urban Archive smartphone app. After you’ve uncovered all the clues, meet back at the Museum terrace for light refreshments and an awards ceremony.
The Museum of the City of New York houses around 750,000 objects, including prints, photographs, decorative arts, costumes, paintings, sculpture, toys, and theatrical memorabilia. The Museum aims to foster “an understanding of the distinctive nature of urban life in the world’s most influential metropolis” while “celebrating, documenting, and interpreting the city’s past, present, and future.”
