Times Square’s November Midnight Moment features the work “The Scorpion Gesture” by Chitra Ganesh, in partnership with exhibitions the artist has as the Rubin Museum of Art and The Kitchen. Ganesh is a native New Yorker, raised in Queens and Brooklyn. The digital show in Times Square draws on work from the Rubin Museum of Art’s collection of Himalayan art.

According the Times Square Alliance, “The Scorpion Gesture is a rich and colorful phantasmagoria that plays in the intersections of myth and science fiction. Both forms utilize complex storytelling structures — stories within stories, shape-shifting protagonists, twists and turns — to ask similar, universal questions: Who are we? Where did we come from? What constitutes human? What is the relationship between humanity and justice? How are we to behave ethically and appropriately as citizens and inhabitants of planet Earth?
