How to Make a Subway Map with John Tauranac
Hear from an author and map designer who has been creating maps of the NYC subway, officially and unofficially, for over forty years!
We’re excited to announce that this month, Untapped Cities partnered with Columbia Magazine, the magazine of Columbia University published by the University’s Office of Alumni and Development, to create a guide to Manhattanville. The guide is beautifully illustrated by Julia Rothman, a Brooklyn-based artist whose work you have seen gracing the LinkNYC kiosks on the city sidewalks (though she has many more accolades to speak of). Untapped Cities founder Michelle Young, an alumni of Columbia University’s Graduate School of Architecture, Planning and Preservation (GSAPP) where she has taught as an Adjunct Professor of Architecture for the last six years, wrote the text highlighting a few must-visit places in the Morningside Heights/Manhattanville area: Grant’s Tomb, Riverside Church, and more!
The rest of the guide includes additional local food recommendations and campus spots, chosen by the editorial staff at Columbia Magazine. Check the guide out here!
You can go on a tour of Grant’s Tomb with our membership-based group, Untapped Cities Insiders. We will have dates available for summer soon!
