Join author and Columbia University’s DeWitt Clinton Professor of History, George Chauncey, for a presentation on New York City’s post-war gay culture and politics. Chauncey, who wrote Gay New York: Gender, Urban Culture, and the Making of the Gay Male World, 1890-1940, will go beyond the material in his book, which shattered the myth that gay life existed only in the closet before the 1960s. This event is presented in connection with the Brooklyn Historical Society’s new exhibition On the (Queer) Waterfront. If you are an Untapped Cities Insider, you can attend this event for free!
