2. Films on the Green

This season, the Cultural Services French Embassy’s Films on the Green outdoor summer film series will focus on the work of female directors in French and Francophone cinema. Screenings, which start on May 31st, take place a different green spaces around New York City including Cedar Hill in Central Park, Washington Square Park, Transmitter park in Greenpoint, Brooklyn and others. Now in its 12th season, the series will show thirteen films made by female filmmakers in honor of Agnès Varda, a feminist filmmaker and pioneer of the French New Wave who passed away earlier this year. Films featured come from Lebanon, the Ivory Coast, Mexico and Turkey. This series is free and open to the public.
