New York City has been home to some of the most historic sports stadiums and arenas, sites of momentous athletic triumphs and tragedies. In a talk at the Museum of the City of New York, Pulitzer Prize-winning architecture critic Paul Goldberger, author of the new book Ballpark: Baseball in the American City, and author Kevin Baker will discuss the connection between the physical transformation of New York’s ballparks and America’s changing attitudes toward cities and shared civic space, past and present, revealing what we can learn about the evolution of New York City from its changing playing fields. The talk is held in conjunction with the Museum’s exhibition In the Dugout with Jackie Robinson: An Intimate Portrait of a Baseball Legend.
