The Museum of the City of New York is asking New Yorkers to share their stories of being in New York City during the coronavirus crisis by posting images on Instagram using the hashtag #CovidStoriesNYC, and tagging @museumofcityny. The museum is interested in seeing how the entire city, across all five boroughs, is viewing this moment in our collective history.
On Wednesday at noon, Untapped New York founder Michelle Young will interview Museum of City of New York’s Prints and Photographs curator Sean Corcoran, in a live virtual interview, which will conclude with a Q&A with the attendees. Shown here are a selection of images from #CovidStoriesNYC so far, with more to be shown in the talk.

For over a century, Museum of the City of New York has been documenting New York City’s stories regardless of the nature they take. At any given moment, there are a myriad of stories playing out on our streets, public and private institutions, and in our homes. Several contributors of Untapped New York, including this author, were featured in the photographs curated from the public on Hurricane Sandy, exhibited in the Rising Waters exhibition in 2013. #CovidStoriesNYC will continue this tradition, but showcasing how New Yorkers are experiencing the city through the lens of this COVID-19 crisis. We will show additional images from the Museum of City of New York’s collection during the live interview.
