How to Make a Subway Map with John Tauranac
Hear from an author and map designer who has been creating maps of the NYC subway, officially and unofficially, for over forty years!
Today at noon, join award-winning author Susie Orman Schnall as she talks about her newly released novel, “We Came Here to Shine” in a virtual talk with Untapped New York. Set during the iconic 1939 New York World’s Fair, We Came Here to Shine follows two intrepid young women—an aspiring journalist and a down-on-her-luck actress—form an unlikely friendship as they navigate a world of endless possibility, stand down adversity, and find out what they are truly made of during the glorious summer of spectacle and opportunity.
Justin Rivers, Chief Experience Officer, will join the Schnall for a virtual look at the remnants of many of the sites mentioned in the book including the Billy Rose Aquacade, the Life Savers Parachute Jump, the Administration Building, the Trylon and Perisphere, the Lagoon of Nations, and more. The talk will wrap up with a Q&A session with the author.
This live event is organized for Untapped New York Insiders — get two months free with code STAYHOME. A video of the talk will also be made available to all our Insiders afterwards in the Video Archive section of our website.
