How to Make a Subway Map with John Tauranac
Hear from an author and map designer who has been creating maps of the NYC subway, officially and unofficially, for over forty years!
Aboard the Manhattan I or Manhattan II yachts, vessels crafted to emulate the glamour of the 1920s, you can spend a sunny Spring afternoon sailing the waterways of New York City. Classic Harbor Line’s recently launched Around Manhattan Brunch Cruise gives passengers the opportunity to circumnavigate Manhattan while enjoying a three-course brunch and stunning views of the New York City skyline.
On this a 2.75-hour sail, guests will completely circumnavigate the island of Manhattan, passing under 20 bridges along the way! Through the windows of the boat’s cozy solarium, or from the spacious sun-soaked deck, you will see landmarks such as the Statue of Liberty, One World Trade, the Brooklyn Bridge, and more. Other highlights throughout the journey include the South Street Seaport, parts of Queens, and Roosevelt Island.
Around Manhattan Brunch Cruise
As you sail around Manhattan, you will be treated to a three-course prix fixe menu served at your very own private table. The menu includes New York State foods and local goods from New York City purveyors like fresh bagels and bakery items, seasonal fruit, craft sausages, kale salad, stuffed quiche, classic smoked salmon and pastries. To ensure the health and safety of guests and staff, seats are assigned and tables are separated by plexi-glass.
The ships in the Classic Harbor Line fleet were built by the craftsmen at Scarano Boat Building of Albany, New York. Each vessel has all of the twenty-first-century amenities passengers expect paired with classic style. For the brunch cruises, passengers will be sailing aboard the ManhattanI or Manhattan II. These luxurious mahogany-trimmed yachts were designed to offer a peak sightseeing experience. Enhanced safety measures have been implemented onboard including reduced 50% capacity, socially distanced, partitioned private tables inside, plus a MERV 13 HEPA air filtration system. Masks are required, frequent sanitization and contact tracing are in place, contactless tickets and readily available hand sanitizer are standard.
The brunch cruises depart from the Classic Harbor Line dock at Chelsea Pier 62 on Saturdays and Sundays through July at 10:15 am. In addition to the brunch cruise, Classic Harbor Line is also offering an updated Champagne & Cheese Pairing Cruise with a specially curated three-course menu of bubbly and fine cheeses. You can check out the full lineup of Classic Harbor Line’s Spring tours here! Other offerings include a live jazz cruise, a city lights cruise around Manhattan at night, a narrated sail with the AIANY that will explore the architecture of New York City, and so much more!
