The American Dream Mall opened up in December 2019 in Rutherford, New Jersey near the Meadowlands after a long, delayed construction and a $5 billion price tag. A few months later, the coronavirus pandemic broke out in full force in New York so news about the ski resort and mall was fairly quiet. But, Big SNOW American Dream provides a taste of Dubai here in New York offering the ability to ski in all weather.

Inside, Big SNOW, the temperature is held at 28 degrees, which the venue says “ensures the optimal mix of snow quality and guest comfort. The snow is made using snow making machines that “spray a fine mist of cooled water into the air above our slopes. As the water droplets fall through the cold air in the dome, they freeze and turn to snow, just the same as they would falling through the sky outside.” The slope is sixteen stories high and you can see the shape of the slope rising up when going by the Meadowlands.

At Big SNOW, you can appreciate skiing at any level. You can take lessons, rent equipment, or just attend as a spectator. You can also rent “Sno-Go Bikes,” a different way to appreciate the slopes. Sledding and snow play is available for specific times only. There’s a lodge-like facade with ski shop, gear tuning shop and café. Guests who visit Big SNOW during the Club Med activation will have a chance to win a 7-night all-inclusive vacation for two at Club Med Québec, $500 Big SNOW gift card and $500 Rossignol gift card when snapping a picture in the photobooth.
