19. The Museum of American Finance
The Museum of American Finance began as a public organization to educate people about finance’s impact on our daily lives. This museum is the United States’ only public institution dedicated to preserving, exhibiting and educating about financial markets and their history. It holds world-class collections of thousands of photographs, banknotes, checks, stocks, bonds, prints and engravings. Permanent exhibitions talk about financial aspects such as banking, money and markets.
The museum offers educational programs to help teach children about the importance of business and financial literacy throughout grade school. The museum has shown groundbreaking exhibitions such as “For the Love of Money: Blacks on US Currency.” In 2018, the museum remained closed due to flooding and searched for a new permanent location. However, this doesn’t stop the museum from continuing its educational mission virtually on its main website.
