Vintage 1970s Photos Show Lost Sites of NYC's Lower East Side
A quest to find his grandmother's birthplace led Richard Marc Sakols on a mission to capture his changing neighborhood on film.
The 2023 Pantone Color of the Year is already here and it’s PANTONE 18-1740 Viva Magenta! The color of the year is the focus of ARTECHOUSE’s latest immersive installation, MAGENTAVERSE. The new exhibit will take over the art space located in a former boiler room in the basement of Chelsea Market. This new experiential exhibit by ARTECHOUSE Studio draws inspiration and materials from nature, NASA, and the mesmerizing images of space captured by the James Webb Space Telescope.
If you’re an Untapped New York Insider, you can experience this new exhibit for free on February 21st, 23rd, or 28th (limited availability of free tickets available)! Not an Insider yet? MAGENTAVERSE at ARTECHOUSE
The MAGENTVERSE exhibit marks the fourth consecutive collaboration between ARTECHOUSE and Pantone. In the past, visitors have been able to immerse themselves in worlds colored by Very Peri (2022), Illuminating Yellow and Ultimate Grey (2021), and Classic Blue (2020). When you enter the MAGENTAVERSE, you’re in for a “22-minute cinematic audiovisual exploration of the character and depth of Viva Magenta.” Inside the Immersion Gallery, an 18-channel floor-to-wall panoramic (270°) projection and a 30.1-channel spatialized audio system completely envelop you in the experience.
The images and sounds you see and hear are derived from various technical and natural sources. To create the MAGENTAVERSE, the exhibit features elements from NASA and Motorola. The result is a mesmerizing melding of technology and the natural world all seeped in the Pantone Color of the Year.
As Pantone’s Color of the Year is a harbinger for trends across the global art, fashion, and design communities, it was only fitting that MAGENTAVERSE’s next home be here in New York City, itself an international trendsetter,” said Sandro Kereselidze, ARTECHOUSE’s Co-Founder and Chief Creative Officer. “Through the intersection of art, science, and cutting-edge technology, we wanted to offer visitors a multi-sensory experience that embodies and celebrates the striking and expressive nature of Viva Magenta.”
