Tennis balls are flying all over NYC this week as the U.S. Open comes to Queens! You can watch the pros play at USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in Flushing Meadows-Corona Park and get in the action yourself at one of the many pop-up tennis courts that have sprung up around the city. From a court floating on the Hudson to a rooftop court with tennis-themed drinks, find out where you can practice your serve!
1. Racquet House at Rockefeller Center
Tennis lifestyle brand and quarterly magazine Racquet has taken over the Center Plaza at Rockefeller Center. Now through September 1st, members of the public can reserve a timeslot by signing up for the Racquet newsletter linked here. You may even spot a famous face, as professional tennis players will be making appearances throughout the week!
2. Rooftop Court at PIER 17®
Players of all skill levels are invited to a full-size rooftop court on The Rooftop at Pier 17 at the South Street Seaport from September 6th through 9th, with free play time on the mornings of September 7 and September 8. This location offers sweeping views of the city skyline and landmarks like the Brooklyn Bridge. The court will have racquets and tennis balls available to borrow and on Wednesday and Friday, Heineken will host games, activations, and more free play slots.
3. SS Evian
The iconic Circle Line boat tour is bringing NYC its first-ever floating tennis court, in collaboration with evian water. Dubbed the SS evian, the floating court will offer a unique way to enjoy the US Open Men’s Finals. Guests onboard will enjoy a ‘Waterside Chat’ with former US Open champion and evian hydration ambassador Maria Sharapova. One lucky guest will even get to volley with the champ and receive two tickets to the 2024 US Open. More tickets for this experience will be released on Tuesday, 8/29 at 9am EST. 4. Brookfield Place Open
Brookfield Place in Lower Manhattan has transformed into the Brookfield Place Open for the 8th year. At the waterfront plaza from now through August 31st, you can take part in adult and kids tennis clinics and the open-court play courtesy of the Tennis Channel. No registration is required for adult clinics, but you need to register for playtime on the court here.
