Shipwrecked NYC’s pirate and Brooklyn-themed mini-golf course has transformed into a “Winter Putterland” for the month of December! The 18-hole NYC mini golf course, hidden on the second floor of an industrial building in Red Hook, still maintains a certain swashbuckling charm, but now with a festive holiday twist. A Santa hat tops a giant skull obstacle, colorful string lights wrap around palm trees, and piles of presents, garlands, wreaths, and Christmas trees are spread throughout the course.
This immersive holiday display is up until January 1st, and you can join Untapped New York Insiders for free access on December 21st and 22nd! Shipwrecked NYC opened in 2016 and we’ve loved this hidden gem right from the start. It was created by two friends with backgrounds in theater production. Their theatrical expertise and creativity shine through in the delightful design of the mini-golf course and other activities inside the 11,000-square-foot space. Each golf hole, salvaged from a closed-down mini-golf course in Maryland, is enhanced by hand-made scenery and props, special lighting, sound effects, and music.
This winter marks the third year that Shipwrecked NYC will be decked out for the holidays. While striving for a hole-in-one, guests will travel through various themed rooms and a candy cane lane. You’ll be surrounded by snow, peppermint fog, shimmering trees and wreaths, and more mesmerizing decorations that make for a perfect photo op.
In addition to the mini-golf course, guests can also try their hand at busting out of three mini-escape rooms: Haunted, Mission: Reactor, and Temple Escape, or attempt to beat the highest score at a newly opened arcade room. Players of all ages are welcome to enjoy the games and activities at this Brooklyn spot, except on Thursday nights when Shipwrecked NYC hosts its weekly 21+ Adult Nights from 7 pm to 11 pm.
