Aram Bartholl, of Dead Drops (who started those USB sticks embedded in the wall, now a global phenomenon) is curating a solo show of brand new work by Evan Roth, whose work “Talk to Me” at MoMA opens July 19th.

This is the SPEED SHOW exhibition format: Hit an Internet-cafe, rent all computers they have and run a show on them for one night. All art works of the participating artists need to be on-line (not necessarily public) and are shown in a typical browser with standard plug-ins. Performance and life pieces may also use pre-installed communication programs (instant messaging, VOIP, video chat etc). The show is public and takes place during normal opening hours of the Internet cafe/shop. All visitors are welcome to join the opening, enjoy the art (and to check their email.)

Aram wants you to take this idea and run with it too. He tells Untapped, “Speed show is a hack for turning 90s style internet place into a gallery  for one night. Everyone can do a speedshow! It is fast, easy and low  cost! Crash the next shop and make your own show!”

When We Were Kings by Evan Roth is a combination of newpop, high-end minimal and pure  Internet based pieces. He’s going to “bling out the machine park of ’90 Bowery’ with HTML at its best  from his famous memepop tool-box!” Translation: a throwback to 90s solitaire, reflecting on the seizure of domains by Homeland Security, turning web cache archives into art, and even…Michael Jackson. Untapped will be there, along with Evan Roth and Aram Bartholl, so come and say hello.
