There will be plenty to hop, skip and jump about with Reflect, a new socially distanced art installation at Domino Park in Brooklyn. American new media artist Jen Lewin has installed an immersive, multi-sensory experience spanning 2400 square feet. Three large concentric rings that are made up of touch sensitive platforms that light up in response to visitors steps. The ideal public art work for the times, Reflect allows for multiple individuals to engage with the work simultaneously while maintaining six feet apart.
During the day, Reflect’s dynamic rainbow of colors shifts as users interact with the piece, reflecting the sky and surrounding environment from its mirrored surface. At night the sculpture animates and glows as viewers jump across its ever changing illuminated panels, splashing colored light powered by complex internal code and custom hardware.
Reflect is making its American debut in the artists home town of Brooklyn after being featured in Tokyo over the 2020 spring and summer. It will continue to travel around the globe, bringing playful ways to connect communities during these extraordinary times. To insure all safety measures are followed Domino Park staff will check on the installation as part of their regular park rounds. Reflect is free and open to the public between 8am and 10pm every day.
