New Film Shows How Art Brings Life to Green-Wood Cemetery
Discover how the living and the dead make Green-Wood Cemetery a vibrant part of NYCs cultural scene!
A little rain couldn’t stop the The Annual Tompkins Square Halloween Dog Parade this past Sunday. Dogs and owners alike donned their best Halloween costumes and convened at the East River Park Amphitheater in the Lower East Side to compete for best in show. Untapped Cities was on the scene to capture all of the crazy canine costumes.
Costumes ranged from classic spooky characters, to pop culture references, and puns. From simple to over-the-top, the costumes were certainly creative. Many dog owners made themselves part of the costume and added scenery too. Everyone was in high spirits and happy to have their picture taken, despite the gloomy weather.
After a runway show and judging, two Yorkshire terriers, dressed as Snoopy and the Red Baron, took home the top prize. The two dogs were dressed up and placed in a handmade dog house and airplane. Other elaborate costumes included Jack the Nipper, who was staged among a crime scene and newspaper clippings, and Dug, Carl, Russell, and the bird Kevin from Disney and Pixar’s film Up with a house tethered to balloons. We even saw canine incarnations of Snoop Dog, Ruth Bader Ginsberg and Antonin Scalia at the parade. Check out more photos from the furry and festive affair in the gallery below:
