Join our first live virtual talk with Untapped New York’s Artist in Residence Aaron Asis tomorrow! You may recognize his work recently on Untapped New York, as he has been documenting the surreal streetscapes of New York City during this pandemic. Aaron was born and raised in New York City, discovering its neighborhoods, its people, and its streets. As an artist, his work explores creative ways to promote access & awareness of under-appreciated environments throughout our cities.
Aaron’s interactive talk will focus on the importance public access, historic awareness, and the ways that art can impact the environment around us. Aaron will share colorful stories about the origins of his creative practice, his photos of New York during coronavirus, and reveal the motivations and inspirations behind a few of his favorite site-specific art projects in New York City.

Some of these projects include a guerrilla installation inside the Freedom Tunnel under Riverside Park, a criss-crossing of bungee cables inside the chapel at Green-Wood Cemetery, an installation inside an abandoned building in Fort Tilden, and more. Aaron is also the founder of Unforgotten Films, which has released moving short films about New York City’s forgotten places.
