Untapped Cities is excited to announce its new tour Public Art Walking Tour in Lower Manhattan. Lower Manhattan is like an open-air art gallery with works like Arturo DiModica’s Charging Bull and others from great artists including Isamu Noguchi and Daniel Chester French. Hundreds of people work in and visit Lower Manhattan for the sake of saying they were there, snapping quick selfies with the Charging Bull and meandering around impressed, yet unaware of the incredible amount of art and history that defines the area. Now’s the chance to see what this historic area has to offer.
On this tour we’ll take a stroll down Broadway and then meander through Battery Park. With each piece we visit we’ll take the time to deconstruct the image, discuss what is known about it and then share reactions. We’ll be sampling art not only from different eras but also art that has different purposes: propaganda, place-making, reflection, honoring an ideal or group, whimsy, and more.
Fully immerse yourself in what Lower Manhattan has to offer in this two hour tour and truly learn about the impact art has made on what’s only a one-mile stretch. This tour is open for everyone and is handicap accessible. The first tour will be on January 22 so book your spot today.
