On Halloween Eve, teams of New York City architects will go “gourd-to-gourd” to create the most impressive work of pumpkin architecture in hopes of winning the Pritzkerpumpkin Prize! The annual Pumpkitecture Competition is one of the final events of Archtober, New York City’s month-long celebration of architecture and design. If you’re an Untapped New York member, you can snag one of our limited free tickets to the event and watch the live carving competition!
Guests at Pumpkitecture get an up-close view of all the action, then vote for their favorite creation to help determine which team will win the People’s Pumpkin. The live carving starts at 6:15 pm and runs through 7:30 pm. A jury of industry professionals including Elijah Bobo, Environmental Graphic Designer, Once–Future Office, Mark Krotov, Publisher and Co-editor, n+1 and Sasha Topolnytska, Adjunct Professor, Spitzer School of Architecture, City College of New York; Founder, Farmmm Studio will pick the Pritzkerpumpkin winner. Spooky snacks and beverages will be available to enjoy while you watch! Get tickets here.
The Center for Architecture is still accepting registration for firms who want to compete in the contest. If your team is ready to show off your pumpkin carving skills, register here!
There are still tons of events to participate in for the rest of Archtober, including a lecture series by the Indigenous Society of Architecture, Planning, and Design (ISAPD).
