One of the most enjoyable things about living in the city of San Francisco is how visually dynamic it is. There is simply art everywhere, but not in a way that inundates you. The most interesting pieces are hidden away in nooks and crannies, and many people often overlook the “candy” placed in prominent locations. ART on STREETS highlights this city’s art through the lens of a “Polaroid” camera (except it’s an app on the phone).
Who doesn’t love looking up at birds on a wire? These birdies decorate an Inner Sunset parking lot located between 8th and 9th avenues just south of Irving Boulevard. The piece is easy to find; it’s the only art there. (The rest of the lot is painted in an array of basic colors). The simplicity of the image fits the Inner Sunset well-there really isn’t much other street art in the neighborhood. Check it out on a Sunday, when the lot transforms into the neighborhood farmer’s market.
