One of the most enjoyable things about living in the city of San Francisco is how visually dynamic it is. There is simply art everywhere, but not in a way that inundates you. The most interesting pieces are hidden away in nooks and crannies, and many people often overlook the “candy” placed in prominent locations.  ART on STREETS highlights this city’s art through the lens of a “Polaroid” camera (except it’s an app on the phone).

Nomad is a body piercing studio on Market Street at Octavia. The fast traffic at this intersection-due to cars getting on and off the freeway-results in this neighborhood being overlooked. Public transportation here is scarce; only the F Train passes through. It seems everything is drawn away from this intersection point, as people are generally on their way somewhere else. The murals developing on Nomad’s building facade attempt to counteract this trend, drawing viewers toward the intersection, rather than away. Some of the art faces the freeway ramp construction, another work in progress.
