Gathering at Ground Zero: Osama Bin Laden Killed

The spontaneous gathering at Ground Zero continued hours after President Obama announced that Osama Bin Laden had been killed by United States forces in Pakistan. Photographer  Chris Cho went to the World Trade Center site and captured this sent of fantastic images with his Canon 5D Mark II. On one hand, the photographs capture the poeticism of the American flag against the bright lights of the new construction at Ground Zero, but on the other, the range of emotions for those that congregated.

It was a “jubilation,” Chris says but people were also remembering what had happened on Sept 11th, 2001 and those we have lost since.  Chris told Untapped, “There was a high level of excitement in the air and everyone was rejoicing. I would also agree with something Brian Williams said about being many different reasons why people gathered to celebrate, but everyone was there to express their happiness and receive some closure to 9/11.”
