The Jefferson Market Library is one of Greenwich Village’s iconic buildings and a quintessential New York-story of adaptive reuse. The building, a New York City landmark, was designed by architects Frederick Clark Withers and Calvert Vaux (who also assisted in the design of Central Park) originally as a courthouse, with adjoining prison and market. Since 1967, it has been the home of the New York Public Library Jefferson Market Library branch and on June 2nd, the library will be opening up the clocktower just for Untapped Cities Insiders for this event! Frank Collerius, the branch manager will be leading the tour and climb up the 149 steps to the tower where guests will get fantastic 360 degree views of New York City.
