A Playground Made of Scaffolding Comes to Brooklyn
A pesky part of the urban environment becomes a place of play at Brooklyn Children's Museum!
Constance Rosenblum’s new book, Habitats: Private Lives in the Big City looks at the almost invisible lives of New Yorkers behind closed doors, in their homes. Taking a cross-section of dwellings, ranging from lofts, to Park Avenue mansions to shoebox apartments, she tells the story of New York through its people and their abodes. A writer for the New York Times Real Estate section, Rosenblum explores the many types of homes that New Yorkers occupy, offering a multifaceted portrait of what it means to live within a community in one of the biggest cities in the world.
Says The Guardian, “Rosenblum writes evocatively about a city where ‘neighborhoods, streets, even individual buildings are saturated with memory.’ Reading these pieces is like walking down a street at dusk and glancing into people’s illuminated living rooms…From these fragments of lives she weaves an intimate portrait of a city and its inhabitants.”
Tomorrow October 24th from 6:00pm to 8:00pm, Landmark West!, will be hosting a book talk at Macaulay Honors College with Rosenblum. Tickets for the event can be purchased at LW!’s eventbrite page for $15.00.
