Vintage 1970s Photos Show Lost Sites of NYC's Lower East Side
A quest to find his grandmother's birthplace led Richard Marc Sakols on a mission to capture his changing neighborhood on film.
For transit nerds, the NYC Google Office in Chelsea has a fun vintage train sitting in a common work space. The “Google Rapid Transit” train shown above is a recreation of what looks to us like the old elevated rail trains (any thoughts?). The Google “Special” train has a destination to Mountain View (Google’s headquarters in California) and the stations listed are both in Mountain View.
The rest of the office has other fun NYC specific details such as a red fire hydrant and street grate, graffiti tagging on an office door, there’s even a conference room designed like a super-cramped NYC apartment!
Also check out our look at the design of the Google Mountain View Office and the Google Glass Basecamp in NYC .All photos except otherwise noted from a Wall Street Journal video via the Google Jobs website.
