“Can you tell the difference between a secret and a lie?” That’s the question Caveat, a speakeasy stage for “playful, intelligent nightlife,” is asking its audience during New York City Secrets and Lies, a storytelling event that will feature Untapped Cities’ very own, Michelle Young.
During this fun night, which takes place on January 29 from 7 to 8:30pm, five expert storytellers will come together to reveal the mysterious pasts of New York City locations that we stroll by every day. Of those stories — which include tales of what it’s like to live in the New York Public Library, a building stolen twice and the creation of a secret nightclub — one is false, and it’s up to the audience to weed out fact from fiction.
Along with Michelle Young, the featured storytellers of the night include Allison Huntington Chase, CEO of Madame Morbid’s Trolley Tours in Brooklyn, Sarah Laskow, a senior writer at Atlas Obscura, Alex Neuhausen, a engineer, musician, and founder of Secret Loft, Bridget Randolph, a New York City-based actor, writer and storyteller and Carla Katz, a Jersey-born and bred storyteller. The event will also be hosted by Christa Avampato, an author and theater / film producer.
Those who are able to successfully identify the lie will be in the running to win a pair of tickets to a secret event in New York City. For more information, check out the Caveat website here, and visit the Facebook event page.
