The New York Public Library is marking its 125th anniversary tomorrow, May 23rd, 2020. Though the pandemic has limited the fanfare, NYPL is still celebrating with the release of its 125 Kids Books We Love list, which follows its lists of 125 Books We Love List (featuring the NYPL lions) and the 10 Most Borrowed Books in its history earlier this year.

On the kids list, you’ll find favorites by age group, including classic books like Anne of Green Gables, Charlotte’s Web, the Chronicles of Narnia, Chika Chika Boom Boom, Corduroy, Diary of Wimpy Kid, Eloise, Everyone Poops, Good Night Moon, Green Eggs and Ham, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone, The Little Prince, The Little Red Lighthouse, Madeline, Number the Stars, The Tale of Peter Rabbit, The Velveteen Rabbit, The Very Hungry Caterpillar, Where the Sidewalk Ends, Where the Wild Things Are, Winnie the Pooh, A Wrinkle in Time, and much more.

The library has also releasing a video with special guests like Alan Cumming, Chelsea Clinton, Chuck Schumer, Claire Danes, Ethan Hawke, Francis Ford Coppola, Jonathan Lethem, Tim Gunn, and many more sharing the books they love and celebrating the library.  Also, tomorrow, when you see the Empire State Building lit up in red and white, you’ll know it’s for the New York Public Library’s anniversary!
