Whether your preference is for high-profile or off-the-beaten-path events, in this engaging presentation Susan will share inside tips and tidbits from the book to help you enjoy the pleasures that are unique to New York.

September 17th – See Cole Porter’s Piano at the Waldorf Astoria

Explore the Residential Gallery of the Waldorf Astoria New York where you’ll see historic artifacts like Porter’s Steinway and step inside model residences designed by Jean-Louis Deniot with furnishings by B&B Italia. You’ll learn about the historic hotel’s conversion into luxury condominiums, set to open in late 2024.

September 18th – Great Bars of New York Photo Talk w/ James and Karla Murray

J​​​​​​oin acclaimed photographers James and Karla Murray for a special illustrated conversation about their latest book, Great Bars of New York City: 30 of Manhattan’s Favorite Storied Drinking Establishments! In this live virtual talk, you’ll see photos from the Murrays’ latest photography book, learn how the couple selected which bars would be featured, hear some of the stories behind the photographs, and learn how you can help save your community’s beloved bars.

September 20th – The Brooklyn Bridge at Night: Emily Roebling Birthday Walk

Join Untapped New York’s Chief Experience Officer Justin Rivers to celebrate the birthday of Chief Engineer Emily Roebling while exploring the Brooklyn Bridge at sunset. As you walk to the center of the span, you’ll learn how Emily became an unlikely surrogate Chief Engineer and led the final phases of bridge construction, hear about the joyous festivities of opening day, and visit sites where the Roeblings are remembered today.

September 24th – Sunset Rooftop Tour of the Huron on Brooklyn’s Waterfront

Explore a brand-new luxury apartment complex on the edge of the East River in Brooklyn! The design of The Huron, a two-tower structure that resembles the smokestacks on a ship, was heavily influenced by Brooklyn’s shipbuilding past. Step inside to see model units and newly completed amenity spaces like the pool, playroom, fitness center, and rooftops where you’ll see stunning views of Manhattan!

September 26th – Untapped New York Abroad: London Livestream

Join Untapped New York’s Chief Experience Officer Justin Rivers and fellow Insider Jo Holmes as they explore the evolution of various historic London sights on a virtual live stream from across the pond! Visit London’s own “Hudson Yards,” the Bankside Yards and Hopton’s Almshouses where 18th-century buildings sit among newer developments, see the Tate Modern, an art museum inside a former power station, walk over a footbridge–the first new bridge in London to be built in over 50 years–that got off to a wobbly start, and more!

September 27th – Walk the Future QueensWay, an Abandoned Rail Trail

Explore the site of the proposed QueensWay, a linear park and cultural greenway that will take over a 3.5 mile stretch of the former LIRR Rockaway Beach Branch through Central Queens. Join members of the Trust for Public Land and Friends of the QueensWay for an urban hike through the first two phases of the park where you’ll see railway remnants and enjoy the summer foliage as learn about future plans for the in-progress path.

September 29th – Behind the Scenes Tour of the New Victory Theater

Be one of the first to experience a new behind-the-scenes tour of Times Square’s oldest operating theater, the New Victory Theater! This tour is led by Tim Dolan, founder of  Broadway Up Close. As you tour the historic site, you’ll see one of the last theater domes in NYC, admire an 1893 mosaic tile from the World’s Columbian Exposition in Chicago, visit the spot where Burlesque entertainer Gypsy Rose Lee was “unveiled”, peek inside the projector room from the 1940s, and more.
