An exhibit on Frank Lloyd Wright, the influential architect the Museum of Modern Art hails as “one of the most prolific and renowned architects of the 20th century,” will be at The MoMA next year from June 12 to October 1st, 2017.  The exhibit, Frank Lloyd Wright at 150: Unpacking the Archive, will be culling from the archives of not only The MoMA and the Frank Lloyd Wright archive but also the Avery Architectural & Fine Arts Library at Columbia University, will comprise about 450 works spanning over 60 years. Expect to find architectural drawings, models, video and and print media, and other ephemera, some of which The MoMA has shared with us here.

The exhibition celebrates the 150th anniversary of the birth of Frank Lloyd Wright and will be a critical compendium of his work. Widely considered to be radical and avant-garde, Wright “pioneered do-it-yourself construction systems as well as avant-garde experimentation, and advanced original theories with regards to nature, urban planning, and social politics” explains the museum’s press release.

The exhibit will be structured as an anthology divided into twelve sections investigating different objects from the Frank Lloyd Wright Archive with the intent to build inquiry and conversation around the historic role he played in the history of architecture and urbanism.
