Explore the Historic Alexander Hamilton Custom House

The historic Alexander Hamilton Customs House, a giant Beaux-Arts structure built in 1907 at the site of the former colonial Fort Amsterdam, is a treasure trove of artistic and architectural work. Standing now as a national landmark and serving as the home of the Smithsonian’s National Museum of the American Indian, the structure has come to embody over 400 years of New York City history. On November 29th, explore the extraordinary landmark on a guided building tour led by one of the museum’s longtime docents. In addition to the building tour, guests on this special access tour will also get a behind-the-scenes look at the museum’s collections area with Collections Manager, John George, to learn about how artifacts are processed and prepared for display. After the tour, guests will have time to browse the museum’s exhibits at their leisure, as it will be open until 8:00pm! This tour is open to Untapped Cities Insiders. Not an Insider yet?
