New York City developer Brodsky recently treated Untapped New York Members to a special behind-the-scenes look at 499 President on an exclusive hard hat tour before it opened. While we weren't able to share any construction photos from that exclusive tour, we can now show what the finished product looks like inside!

This 350-unit mixed-use development—with 88 affordable housing units—was designed by New York firm SLCE Architects and developed in partnership with Brooklyn-based developer Avery Hall is now open for leasing. Its brick facade and large black-framed windows pay homage to the industrial aesthetic of the neighborhood's historic warehouses and factory buildings. Lush courtyards and gardens designed by Steven Dubner Landscaping add a touch of greenery, making the development feel both inviting and peaceful.

“We are thrilled to launch leasing at 499 President and introduce a sophisticated luxury rental for Brooklyn's most transformative neighborhood,” said Alexander Brodsky, President, Brodsky. “We've built our portfolio by strategically investing in the city's best and most vibrant neighborhoods. Gowanus has all of the qualities we look for: great restaurants, locally operated retail, abundant green space, easy access to transportation, and a streetscape that fosters a sense of community. 499 President is set to be a cultural anchor at the heart of Gowanus."

Residences inside the 10-story building range from studios to two bedrooms. Each spacious rental features an open-concept layout with high-quality finishes such as five-inch wide plank floors, white oak cabinetry with satin nickel hardware, and Caesarstone countertops, all thoughtfully chosen by Brooklyn-based CL-OTH Interiors. Many of the rentals even come with a private outdoor space.

The comfortable living spaces are complimented by 25,000 square feet of curated amenities. Spread out over three floors, residents will find a pet wash station, a state-of-the-art fitness center with a Pilates studio, a golf simulator room, and a serene interior courtyard where tenants can find a quiet escape from the city bustle.

Up on the private 9th floor, residents can work, relax, or entertain in shared lounge spaces. A private dining room opens onto a landscaped terrace with grills and outdoor seating—perfect for hosting dinner under the stars.

The crown on top is the rooftop where residents and their guests can take in stunning views of Brooklyn and Manhattan while enjoying a community garden, more outdoor dining space, and a swimming pool lined with cabanas.

Beyond all of the residential amenities, 499 President Street connects its tenants to the local community as well. Through the award-winning Brodsky Neighbors, tenants can engage with local businesses through events–like classes, holiday parties, or special excursions–and exclusive perks. At 499 President Street, residents can connect to local favorites like Insa (a Korean BBQ spot), home decor shop Collier West, and Threes Brewing. The lower levels of 499 President Street feature 20,000 square feet of retail currently being curated. One of the first businesses to move in is Brooklyn pizza joint Paulie Gee’s!
