So much is happening in the urbanism world this month just in New York City so we decided to round-up all the amazing conferences taking place:

CityLab: Urban Solutions to Global Challenges, October 6-8

The Atlantic, The Aspen Institute, and Bloomberg Philanthropies will be teaming up next week from October 6-8 to host “CityLab: Urban Solutions to Global Challenges,” an upcoming summit bringing together an impressive 300 global city leaders, including mayors, urban theorists, architects, scholars, artists, and more. The event will explore issues regarding economic development, sustainability and the environment, in addition to topics such as redevelopment and urban infrastructure. Select breakout sessions and main stage programming will be live-streamed at The Atlantic’s events page.

The International Downtown Association’s World Congress and Annual Meeting, October 6-9

Starting next week from October 6-9, the International Downtown Association will host the World Congress and 59th Annual Meeting in New York City, bringing together approximately 700 downtown and urban district leaders from North America and eleven additional countries to explore the problem of urban district development and to share some ideas and practices that help towns and cities to flourish. The conference will also reveal new data about the growth of more than 150 downtown districts across America, giving attendees a unique opportunity to learn more about urban district development. Visit the IDA’s website to register for the event.

TEDxNYIT’s Meta Resiliency, October 10

Last week, TEDCity 2.0 gathered 20 local and global leaders in fields ranging from government to business to discuss how to build a better urban environment. If you missed that event, you’re in luck: on October 10th, TEDxNYIT will be hosting Meta Resiliency, a forum that will gather visionaries, thinkers, and activists to discuss the concept of resilience. The forum will not only discuss resilience in the context of the overwhelming response of New Yorkers following Hurricane Sandy, but it will also use this instance as a starting point to explore the resilience of the human spirit bringing in best practices from around the world. The conference will run from 9 AM to 7 PM. Tickets can be purchased on their website until October 8th.

2013 MAS Summit for NYC, October 17-18

The Municipal Arts Society’s fourth annual MAS Summit for New York City will take place this year at Lincoln Center, focusing on the theme of innovation and leadership, especially in the fields of design and infrastructure, arts and cultural development, and preservation. More than 100 speakers will attend over the course of the two days, holding a discussion over how to build a city for New Yorkers that is not just globally competitive, but also socially, economically, and environmentally resilient. Last year, Untapped Cities live blogged the event as the media sponsor and the founder of Untapped Cities, Michelle Young, was one of the summit speakers.
