Go Inside The Living Museum, an Eclectic Art Gallery at Creedmoor Psychiatric Center in Queens
Join Untapped Cities on a special visit to The Living Museum in Queens, an extensive space filled with art created by patients of the Creedmoor Psychiatric Center who are using art as therapy. The Living Museum contains an eclectic mix of work from over 60 artists inside what was once the cafeteria building of Creedmoor’s sprawling, over 100-year old campus. Though parts of Creedmoor’s campus are abandoned, The Living Museum honors the creativity and positivity of the work still being conducted at the Center. The museum was founded in 1983 by Dr. János Marton and artist Bolek Greczynski to give patients with mental illness an outlet through which they could creatively express themselves.
