Destination Cosmos at Hall De Lumieres

Destination Cosmos transports guests from the launchpad of Cape Canaveral to the outer reaches of the universe. Projected onto the historic banking hall’s walls, floors, and ceilings, you will see vistas of Martian canyons, footage from the unforgettable moon landing of Apollo 11, and stunning close-up images of outer planets like Jupiter. You can even catch glimpses of rovers, the space exploration vehicles sent to traverse alien landscapes.

In addition to the main show, guests can also enjoy an accompanying exhibition in the downstairs vault. Titled Infinite Horizons, this experience explores the accepted notion of what makes a landscape. Using algorithms and abstract imagery, the visuals create a seemingly endless horizon. Viewers are challenged to contemplate their own perceptions.

Emigrant Bank was designed by Paris-trained architect Raymond F. Almirall and constructed between 109 and 1912. The impressive hall, which now houses Manhattan’s largest permanent center for custom-curated immersive experiences, was occupied by the bank until 1969. Stained-glass windows, white marble, and limestone walls from Italy give the space an impressive ambiance and make it the perfect canvas for extraordinary immersive displays.
