Manhattanhenge did not disappoint, as the edges of buildings grew bright, anticipating the sun to wax into view. But more so of note, was the gathering of humanity: the people crowded onto Tudor City bridge with barely a sightline, the adventurous (like us) in the middle of 42nd street, the Tudor City residents claiming the occurrence did nothing for them and blaming the whole event on the “internet” (but a split second later cooing after a large dog), the lighthearted family who came en masse to witness this, and the man walking down the middle of the westward lane yelling, “Go to hell!” to cars in his way and receiving the retort, “Go to heaven!” Quintessential New York.

The 2010 Manhattanhenge Sunset will occur on May 30 and July 12 (for the half sun) and May 31st and July 11 (full sun).
The “Sunrise Edition” of Manhattanhenge should occur on November 30th, 2009 and January 10th, 2010.
Note: There appears to be some debate as to the sunrise dates, whether the above or December 5th, 2009 and January 8th, 2010.
